Sunday Postcard Art wird diese Woche ein Jahr alt und hat deswegen „Geburtstage“ zum Thema gemacht. Gleichzeitig ist die Yahoo-Mailingliste gibgummi schon sieben Jahre alt geworden und die Moderatorinnen haben sich ein besonderes Geschenk ausgedacht: einen gibgummi-Blog, auf dem es zweimal monatlich auch Themenherausforderungen geben soll.  Deswegen gleich doppelt: herzlichen Glückwunsch! Die Karte hier ist erstmal für SPA, gibgummi soll noch eine eigene bekommen. Achja, der Text ist übrigens von Laurie Anderson.

Sunday Postcard Art is one year old this week and that’s why the ladies declared „Happy Birthday“ the subject for this week’s challenge. At the same time the yahoo-mailinglist gibgummi (german only, sorry!) turned already seven years. The moderators had a great idea for a birthday-gift: that is gibgummi’s own blog! There will be challenges about twice a month. So, here’s a double „Happy Birthday“. This card is for SPA to start with, I want to make gibgummi it’s own. Architektur ist das Thema der Woche bei Thank God it’s Friday. Eigentlich wollte ich nur den Bauarbeiter mit einer schönen alten Villa kombinieren, aber dann entschied sich diese Karte, ihren ganz eigenen Weg zu gehen. Irgendwie fiel mir die Unfallstatistik in die Hände und plötzlich stellte sich ein kritischer Ton ein, den ich gar nicht beabsichtigt hatte. Mir gefällt’s trotzdem.

This week’s topic at Thank God it’s Friday is architecture. When I started out I only wanted to combine the working man with a nice old villa. But this card decided to go its very own way. Somehow a statistic about (fatal and non-fatal) accidents fell into my hands and all out of a sudden the card got a critical tone that I hadn’t planned at all. I like the result anyway.

Bei Crazy Amigo sind diese Woche Streifen gefragt. Eine gute Gelegenheit die Zetti-Dame mit dem schönen großen Hut zum Einsatz zu bringen. Außerdem habe ich einen ersten Versuch mit der Bandana-Technik gemacht (die Akzente in weiß), aber da muss ich noch ein bisschen üben. Ich habe mehrere Varianten des Hintergrunds gemacht (Sterne, Luftblasen) aber diese hier gefiel mir am besten. Auch wenn der Towel Day ja schon am Montag war: die ist für Douglas Adams.

Stripes are this week’s challenge at Crazy Amigo. A good opportunity to play with the Zetti-Lady with the nice big hat. I also made a first attempt at the bandana-technique (the white bits), but I guess I need a little more training there. I made different backgrounds (stars, bubbles) but in the end I liked this one best. I know, Towel Day was back on monday, but still: this one’s for Douglas Adams.

…dein Zebra ham?“ Wilde Tiere sind diese Woche bei think monday – think ATC gefragt. Für mich persönlich sind die Ameisen übrigens deutlich wilder einzustufen als das Pferd im gestreiften Pyjama.

Bei Sunday Postcard Art sind Zahlen das Thema der Woche. Ich dachte daran, was manch ein Angler so über die Größe seines Fangs berichtet, und kam zu diesem Ergebnis:

Numbers are this week’s topic at Sunday Postcard Art. The german text translates „the blue from the sky“ – which is just what many an angler will tell you about the size of his catch of the day.

Bei Saturday’s Workout sind diese Woche Spin & Splash-Hintergründe gefragt. Die kleine Zentrifuge gehört zu meinen absoluten Lieblingsspielzeugen – und dürfte in der Anschaffung so ziemlich das günstigste Zubehörgerät überhaupt gewesen sein (naja, wenn man mal von den Klamotten absieht, die ich mir an dem Tag in Venlo auch noch gekauft habe….). Das Frauengesicht gehört ebenfalls zu meinen Lieblingsmotiven. In Verbindung mit dem Gitternetz und der rot-schwarzen Farbkombination lässt sie mich an die Comic- und Roman-Heldin Modesty Blaise von Peter O’Donnell denken.

Saturday’s Workout has challenged us to use spin & splash backgrounds this week. The little centrifugal is one of my favourite toys – and one of the cheapest (if you don’t count the bunch of clothes I also bought in Venlo that day). The woman’s face is a favourite as well. Combined with the grid and the red and black colouring she reminds me of Peter O’Donnell’s comic- and thriller-heroine Modesty Blaise.

Bei Saturday Surprise ist die Zeit das Thema der Woche. Das hier ist eine Altered Book-Seite, die ich schon vor längerem für ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt gemacht habe. Mir gefiel die Kombination der schnellen Läuferin mit dem langsam wachsenden Holzmotiv.

This week’s topic at Saturday Surprise is „time“. This is an altered book page I did quite a while ago for a round robin. I liked the combination of the speedy runner and the very slow growing wood motive.

Bei Theme Thursday sind diese Woche maskuline Motive gefragt. Und weil Männer ohne Navigationshilfe dem Klischee zufolge bisweilen ihre Schwierigkeiten haben, habe ich mich für diese Motive hier entschieden. Allerdings ist meine Mutter das Familienmitglied, das schon immer davon geträumt hat, einmal mit der Transsibirischen Eisenbahn zu reisen.

Theme Thursday has challenged us to show some masculine motives this week. If you believe in stereotypes, men appear to get lost now and then if left without navigational help and so I decides to use these motives here. But actually my mom is the one familymember who always dreamt of traveling on the transsibirian railway someday.

Das Thema bei den Mittwochsstemplern heißt diese Woche „Unter dem Meer“. Ich hätte zwar ein paar ATCs zum Thema fertig gehabt, weil bei Gabi diesen Monat ein „Blau“-Swap stattfindet, aber ich fand es schön nochmal etwas in einem (ein bisschen) größeren Format zu machen.

The wednesdaystamper’s challenge for this week is „Under the Sea“. I had a couple of suitable ATCs on the ready – actually for a „blue“-themed swap that Gabi hosts this month but I preferred to do something a little bigger.
