Nämlich mit Dr. Who, die neue Staffel hat gerade begonnen – hurra! Damit war das Motiv für meine Daring Cardmakers „clean and simple“-Karte schnell gefunden: wieder mal die Weeping Angels.
Sharon has asked us to make a „clean and simple“ card for the Daring Cardmakers this week. As the new Dr. Who series has just started finding a motive was easy enough: Weeping Angels once again.
Grund zum Feiern muss man doch eigentlich nur suchen, dann findet man auch einen. Und wenn es der Inhalt des Briefkastens ist! Die Firma DOcrafts hat die Daring Cardmakers mal wieder äußerst großzügig gesponsert. Unter anderem durften wir alle schon mal mit brandneuen XCut-Stanzen spielen. Ich hatte ein dickes Paket mit Weihnachtssachen im Briefkasten: besagte Stanzen, Stempel und Papier aus der neuen „Victorian Christmas“ Serie, außerdem Bänder und Knöpfe, die sich zum Teil auch recht universell einsetzen lassen.
Die Umschlagstanze gefällt mir gut: genau ATC-Größe und die zusätzliche Stanze sorgt für eine schicke Verzierung der Umschlaginnenseite. Das Weihnachtstag ist leider einen Tick zu groß um es in den Umschlag zu stecken (okay, macht bei näherer Betrachtung auch nicht wirklich Sinn…), aber als Stencil eignet es sich hervorragend. Und wer keine Angst hat seine Stanzmaschine zu strapazieren kann es natürlich auch schrumpfen. Die Schachteln habe ich mit der Silhouette geplottert und bei einer die Seite mit Washitape aus dem Vorrat beklebt.
Auch für unsere Teilnehmer gibt es diese Woche natürlich etwas zu gewinnen, nämlich Teile der neuen DOcrafts Roald Dahl Kollektion. Da ich ein großer Roald Dahl-Fan bin, könnte ich auf diese Chance glatt ein bisschen neidisch werden. Also: holt die Stanzen raus und feiert mit uns!
If you want to find a reason to celebrate you just need to look for it. Even the contents of your mailbox could be one! Certainly for the Daring Cardmakers design team who have been most generously sponsored by DOcrafts once more. We all got to play with some brand new XCut dies. I got a huge packet with Christmassy stuff: the aforementioned dies, clearstamps and paperstuff from the new “Victorian Christmas” series and also some ribbons and buttons that can be quite universally used.
I particularly like the envelope die: it’s the perfect size for ATCs and the extra die makes for a matching inside of your envelope. The Christmas tag is just a little too big to fit into the envelope (come to think of it… that wouldn’t make much sense anyway!) but ideal for use as a stencil. And if you’re not afraid to challenge your diecutting machine you can also shrink it to fit a smaller parcel. I used my silhouette to cut the boxes and decorated the side of one with some washi tape from my stash.
There’s also a prize to be won by our participants this week: parts of the new DOcrafts Roald Dahl collection. Being a great fan of Mr. Dahl’s work I might even get a little jealous. So: get out your dies and have a festival with us!
Fantastisches Elastisches hat sich Jo diese Woche bei den Daring Cardmakers gewünscht. Kein Wunder: Loom-Bänder sind momentan wohl europaweit der absolute Hit bei den kleinen Mädels. Jedenfalls habe ich schon diverse (männliche) Kollegen mit für sie eher untypischen Armbändern herumlaufen sehen – da waren wohl die Töchterchen am Werke. Da ich selber keine Kinder habe und selber aus dem Alter nun doch so langsam raus bin, saß ich erst mal auf dem Trockenen. Die Tochter einer Kollegin hat mir dann aber netterweise ausgeholfen und dafür kriegt sie nun diese Karte: Danke, liebe Emma!
Jo has chosen Fantastic Elastic as our Daring Cardmakers theme this week. No wonder: loom-bands are currently the thing for little girls all over Europe. I have seen a couple of (male) colleagues wearing armbands that aren’t quite their typical style – must have been their daughters’ making, I guess. Not having any children myself and outgrown the age to join the hype I was somewhat stuck to start with. But a (female) colleagues daughter kindly helped me out so that I could make this card for her – and for your inspiration: Thank you, Emma!
Sommerliches möchte Manuela bei MiFoC gerade von uns sehen. Im Sommer ist dieser kleine Kerl bei uns im Dauereinsatz: er sorgt dafür, dass die Balkontür offen bleibt und wenigstens ein bisschen frische Luft ins Dachgeschoss kommt. Diese Woche hat er allerdings endlich mal wieder Pause.
Manuela has asked us for summer motives at MiFoC this week. And in summer this little fellow is permanently busy keeping the balcony door open for at least a little fresh air into our attic flat. This week he has finally been allowed to take a little break.
Kathy hat sich diese Woche bei den Daring Cardmakers Strandhütten gewünscht. Da die Wärme in meinem Arbeitszimmer immer noch mein Mojo drückt und es aufgrund der zu erwartenden Schweißentwicklung auch irgendwie schnell gehen musste, habe ich es mir leicht gemacht und bin einfach Hermines letztem Tutorial gefolgt, wenn auch mit etwas Extrafarbe in meiner „Sonnenuhr“. Das I-Tüpfelchen auf ihren Karten sind allerdings immer wieder die Farbspritzer, die sie so selbstverständlich einsetzt. Und die ich einfach nicht hinbekomme. Liebe Hermine, mach doch mal ein Tutorial über die Kunst des Klecksens!
For this week’s Daring Cardmakers challenge Kathy has asked us to present some beach huts. As it’s still very warm in my studio (which is blocking out my Mojo) and it had to be something quick due to the expected development of perspiration, I went for something easy and simply followed Hermine’s latest tutorial – albeit with a little extra colour on my “sundial”. To me Hermine’s splatters are always the icing on the cake of her cards. She uses them so naturally and I can never quite work out how to make these splatters. Dear Hermine, maybe you could write a tutorial on the art of splattering sometime?
Ein neuer Freitag, ein neuer Monat und damit Zeit für eine neue Farbchallenge bei den Daring Cardmakers. Ich durfte aussuchen und habe mich für eine Lieblingskombi entschieden.
Der Textstempel ist übrigens neu. Und am besten gefällt mir die (leider hier nicht komplett lesbare) Zeile „behave like mum’s watching.“
