Ins Land der Pharaonen geht es diese Woche bei Think Monday – Think ATC & More. Ich hab’s da ja nicht so mit der Antike, dafür aber mit bunt.

Habt ihr’s gemerkt? Das Jahr ist schon wieder halb an uns vorbeigerauscht! Und ein neuer Monat bedeutet natürlich auch heute wieder eine neue Farbchallenge bei den Daring Cardmakers, dieses Mal von Beckie.

Did you realize? This year is half gone when it only just started! And of course a new month always means that there’s a new Daring Cardmakers colour combo challenge. Colours chosen by Beckie.

Miri hat sich diese Woche für die Daring Cardmakers eine ganz besondere Herausforderung ausgedacht: wir sollten unsere Karte machen, ohne dabei eine Schere zu benutzen. Klingt einfach? Nicht für mich, denn als erstes kommt für mich ja in aller Regel das Maskenschneiden dran. Ein bisschen improvisieren musste ich bei dem Tag natürlich trotzdem. Für das kleine Fähnchen habe ich ein Perforierwerkzeug benutzt und den Draht habe ich kurzerhand durchgebissen (keine Sorge, der ist wirklich ganz dünn). Und beim Motiv habe ich ja irgendwie schon ein bisschen geschummelt.

Der Untergrund ist ein Tag aus Chalk-Papier. Und mal ehrlich: kann mir bitte jemand sagen, wozu das Zeug gut ist? Die Dinger schlucken so dermaßen viel Farbe, dass sowohl Dylusions als auch Distressfarben und sogar Ölkreiden völlig verblassen. Soll das so? Ich habe mich dann schlussendlich auf Acrylfarbe verlegt, das ging. Aber diese Tags waren für mich bisher ein echter Fehlkauf. Kann mir jemand weiterhelfen, was der besondere Zweck dieses merkwürdigen Papiers ist? Hülfe!

Miri has thought of a rather special Daring Cardmakers‘ challenge this week: make a card without using scissors. Sounds easy? Not for me because usually the first thing I do when starting out on a new card is cutting the needed masks. Of course I still had to improvise a little. Made the little strip of paper using a perforating tool and simply used my teeth to „cut“ the wire (don’t worry, it’s really, really thin). But I did fudge on the motive a little…

The text literally translates something like „Botheration and stitched up“ which actually just means bother in a sense of very mild swearing.

I used a chalk-paper tag for the base. And seriously: can somebody please tell me what that stuff is actually good for? They soak up so much colour that no matter what I used – Dylusons, Distress inks, even oil pastels – turned completely pale. Is it supposed to do that? So far these tags have been a complete mispurchase for me. Can somebody help me and explain the special purpose of this peculiar paper? Please?

Bei Clean & Simple on Sunday geht es zur Zeit um Geburtstagskarten. Viel aufgeräumter als so wird es bei mir nicht.

Bei Think Monday – Think ATC & More sind diese Woche Leuchttürme gefragt. Und bei Craft a Scene geht es sogar den ganzen Monat ums Thema Strandleben.

This week at Think Monday – Think ATC & More it’s all about lighthouses and at Craft a Scene the theme for the whole month is „By the sea“.

Diese Woche ist bei Manuelas MiFoC Fußball das Thema. Keine große Überraschung, wenn man weiß, womit Manuela sich derzeit hauptsächlich beschäftigt – ist ja schließlich gerade WM!

This week’s theme at MiFoC is soccer. Not a huge surprise if you know Manuelas current constant occupation – hey, it’s the world championship!

Dieses Haus haben wir zusammen bei meinem Remagenbesuch am letzten Wochenende gesehen und Manuela hat mir großzügig den Vortritt gelassen.

We saw this house together when I visited Manuela in Remagen last week-end and she generously let me have the motive for her challenge.

Manuela möchte diese Woche bei MiFoC Türen von uns sehen. This week Manuela has aked us to photograph some doors  for MiFoC.

Diese hier habe ich neulich bei einem Restaurantbesuch vor die Linse bekommen. Besonders schön finde ich (neben dem wirklich traumhaften Innenhof), dass die Tür ein ganz kleines bisschen offen steht. Sowas weckt ja gleich meine Neugierde!

I came across this one when we went to a restaurant the other day. I love that the door is ever so slightly ajar – it makes me even more curious than a simply closed door!

Diese Tür stammt aus dem Landschaftspark Duisburg Nord, ganz anders. Industriekultur gibt es halt nur im Ruhrgebiet.

This door can be found at Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, a whole different cup of tea. Industrial culture is to be found in the Ruhrgebiet alone.

Und diese Tür befindet sich in Remagen, gleich am Rhein. Manuela und ich sind gestern an ihr vorbeispaziert.

This door is located in Remagen, right by the river Rhine. Manuela and I went there for a walk yesterday.

Heute bleiben die Stempel mal in der Schublade, denn Gez hat sich bei den Daring Cardmakers „oodles of doodles“ also jede Menge Selbstgezeichnetes gewünscht. Bei Doodle denke ich immer noch an diese kleinen quadratischen und meistens leicht bescheuerten Bilderrätsel* aus Kindertagen:

Beckie hat bei den Daring Cardmakers diese Woche gleich mehrere Wünsche geäußert: eine Männerkarte soll es sein, sie soll eine besondere Form haben und eine 1 und eine 2 sollen auch noch drauf sein. Die Make the Cut – Bibliothek war zum Glück hilfreich.

Beckie has wished for several things on our Daring Cardmakers cards this week: a male themed card, shaped and showing numbers one and two. Luckily help came from the Make the Cut – library.

Manuela möchte bei MiFoC diese Woche Alltägliches sehen. Also gerade die kleinen Dinge, die man täglich sieht und doch kaum wahrnimmt. Deshalb gibt es auch von mir hier ein bisschen Morgenroutine zu sehen. (Allerdings war ich morgens noch so sehr auf Autopilot, dass ich die Fotos am Nachmittag nachholen musste…)

Manuela wants to see some everyday stuff on MiFoC this week. The tiny things we see everyday without really looking at them. So I have some morning routine for you. (To be fair, I had to take the pictures in the afternoon – I was still on autopilot in the morning…)
