Tja, so schnell ist der letzte Monat wieder verflogen. Und schon wieder ist es an der Zeit für eine neue Farbchallenge bei den Daring Cardmakers. Kathy hat mir eine große Freude gemacht und sich für verschiedene Grautöne entschieden. Ich liebe grau! Keine Ahnung wieso. Der Kreis im Hintergrund ist mit Ölkreiden angelegt, mit Hitze bearbeitet und ein bisschen mit den Fingern gewischt.

This last month has gone by ever so quickly. And again it’s time for another Daring Cardmakers colour combo challenge. Just to please me Kathy has decided on a variety of greys. I love grey! No idea why that is, though. I made the background circle using oil pastels, heating them up and wiping them with my fingers just a little.

Manuela möchte es bei MiFoC diese Woche gerne bunt. Farben, Stempelkissen, Washitape wären bei meinem Hobby natürlich naheliegend gewesen. Aber ich dachte ich zeige euch lieber meinen ständigen Begleiter der letzten paar Monate: mein geliebtes Desigual-Halstuch. Ich finde die Farben einfach total genial und auf dem schwarzen Untergrund strahlen sie so schön. Das Tuch ist ziemlich groß, ganz leicht und erstaunlich kuschelig. Im Sommer wird es daher wohl allenfalls für den Abend taugen – fast ein bisschen schade. Aber der nächste Herbst, Winter, Frühling kommt ja bestimmt.

Aber das war ’ne schwere Geburt, kann ich euch sagen. Deshalb bin ich auch diese Woche so spät dran für die Daring Cardmakers. Zuzana hat sich als Thema Sterne gewünscht. Und ich hatte zum einen gerade diesen einen Stern-Stempel verliehen, den ich unbedingt benutzen wollte. (Ich habe ja auch sonst keinen, auf den ich ausweichen könnte. Kicher.) Und dann hatte ich auch noch Ideen. Ich habe nämlich zum Geburtstag für meine Silhouette nicht nur die Make the Cut-Software bekommen (statt der üblichen Design Edition von Silhouette selbst) sondern auch dazu passend die Pop-Up-Studio Software, die ich einen echten Knaller finde. Hier gibt es eine ganze Menge Tutorials zu dieser Software und mit dem allerersten ist es mir dann auch schon gelungen, meine erste Pop-Up-Karte zu plottern. Ta-daaaa!

Well, the birth of this star did take some time, I can asure you! Which is why I’m so late for my Daring Cardmakers card this week. Zuzana has chosen stars as her theme and of course the one star-stamp I just needed to use on my card was borrowed to a friend. (As if I didn’t have any other…) And then I had another idea I absolutely wanted to try out. For my birthday I not only got the Make the Cut software to use with my Silhouette machine but also the matching Pop-Up-Studio software. Which I think is awesome. I found quite a few tutorials here and with help of the first one managed to create my very first pop-up card. Yay!

Origami, die japanische Kunst des Papierfaltens, hat sich Leo diese Woche bei den Daring Cardmakers als Thema ausgesucht.

Blöderweise habe ich das Wochenthema in meiner etwas verpeilten Art erst am Montag gesehen. Dabei waren wir doch am Samstag beim Japantag. Wo es einen Origamistand gab. Den ich völlig ignoriert habe. Hmpf.

This week’s theme at the Daring Cardmakers is Origami as chosen by Leo. Unfortunately I only realized that was our theme on monday. And it was saturday that we went to see the Japan-Day in Düsseldorf. Where they had a stall with Origami classes. Which I completely ignored. Hmpf.

I know there’s German text on my card… but I don’t think I need to translate this one for you. In a way this is a very German card: the tie is still a symbol of respectability and seriousness over here.

Dieses gerupfte „Huhn“ ist mal wieder für die Daring Cardmakers. Sharon hat sich diese Woche Federn gewünscht.

Im Hintergrund habe ich auch ein paar Federn in Resist-Technik gestempelt. Hoffentlich könnt ihr sie gut erkennen. Falls nicht, hier noch mal in groß:

Also für manche scheint das ja wichtig zu sein. Für mich hingegen… pfff. Ob Deutschland mal wieder Weltmeister wird oder ob in Rio jemand Samba tanzt…pfff. Früher, als Kind und Teenager musste ich ja bisweilen mit zu Fußballspielen. EM in Deutschland, Bayer Uerdingen im Pokalfinale – ich war schon ganz arm dran. Meine arme (fußballbegeisterte) Ma muss schon ganz schön unter meinem Desinteresse gelitten haben, bei diesen Gelegenheiten. Aber es ist halt einfach nicht mein Ding.

Dass es hier heute trotzdem Fußball zu gucken gibt, liegt an den Daring Cardmakers und dort insbesondere an Jo, die sich diese Woche Karten zum Thema Fußball gewünscht hat.

Für die Bälle musste ich übrigens improvisieren und bin ganz zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis:

I’m not keen on football. Really, really not keen. I just can’t be bothered. Yet it’s friday and time for another Daring Cardmakers challenge. And Jo has chosen the theme „a game of two halves“ for football related cards.

The text translates something like „let everyone have his own football“ which I quite like. It would be so much less stressful for the players if everyone had a ball to themselves. Don’t you agree? Or did I misunderstand something there…?

I needed to improvise for the balls. How do you like them?

Der erste Freitag im Mai und damit Zeit für eine neue Farbchellenge bei den Daring Cardmakers. Miri hat uns zur Inspiration ein Meeresbild ausgesucht, das uns eine mentale Auszeit verschaffen sollte. Bei ihrem Bild hatte ich sofort dieses Lied im Kopf, das Kevin Kline in „French Kiss“ für Meg Ryan gesungen hat (ja, ich bin so alt!): La Mer. Seufzzzzz.

Die Farben kommen auf dem Foto leider nicht so richtig raus, das Meer ist eigentlich etwas grünlicher. Stellt euch einfach die Farben aus Miris Palette vor…

Die Schrift ist übrigens leider nicht meine eigetne – ich habe sie mit meiner neuen Silhouette Cameo geschnitten. Und ungefähr sieben Anläufe gebraucht, bis ich sie auf der Karte benutzen konnte. Meine Lernkurve ist momentan ziiiiemlich steil.

It’s the first friday in may and time for another Daring Cardmakers‘ colour-combo-challenge. Miri gave us an ocean view picture for inspiration and asked us to go for a mental vacation with our creations. When I saw her pic I immediately thought of that song, that Kevin Kline sang for Meg Ryan in „French Kiss“ (yes, I am that old!): La Mer. Sigh. (And no, it’s not originally by Bobby Darin.)

Unfortunately the colours didn’t photograph very well, the ocean is actually quite a bit more to the green side. Just imagine the colours from Miri’s palette.

The writing is not my own – it was cut with my new Silhouette Cameo. It only took me about seven goes until I cut put it onto my card as I wanted it to be. My learning curve is rather steep at the moment.

Bin ein bisschen spät dran diese Woche für die Daring Cardmakers. Die Technik wollte gestern nicht ganz so wie ich es wollte. Hmpf.

Aber egal! Nat hat uns ein tolles Moodboard zur Inspiration gegeben, aus dem wir uns mindestens drei Elemente aussuchen sollten. Ich habe mich für die Farben (ein Element), Bienchen, Blümchen, Schlüssel und Band (naja, Seil) entschieden. Und bei der Titelvorgabe durfte Sherlock Holmes natürlich auch nicht fehlen.

I’m a bit late for this week’s Daring Cardmakers Challenge. The technical equipment just wouldn’t do what I wanted it to. Hmph.

Never mind! Nat gave us a gorgeous moodboard for inspiration. The Challenge is titled „Elementary, my dear Watson“ and we had to choose at least three elements from the board. I went for colours (one element), bees, flowers, a key and some ribbon (okay: rope). And with that title of course Sherlock Holmes had to be there, too.

Diese Woche heißt das Thema bei den Daring Cardmakers „Another Dimension“, wir möchten also Karten von euch sehen, die mehr als 2D sind. Ich dachte bei diesem Thema sofort an den allseits beliebten raum- und zeitreisenden Dr. Who. Und wo der Doctor ist, sind die bitterbösen Weeping Angels ja auch oft nicht weit. Ich fand, dass die Box-Karte hervoragend, denn wie seine TARDIS ist sie „von innen“ größer als das (flach zusammengefaltete) Äußere es vermuten lässt.

This week’s challenge by the Daring Cardmakers is called „Another Dimension“ which means that we want to see some cards that are more than 2D. When I read the title I instantaneously thought of time- and spacetravelling Dr. Who. And with the Doctor around the super-evil Weeping Angels will not be far away. I think the box-card matches this theme quite well because – just like the Doctor’s TARDIS – this card is a little bigger „on the inside“ than can be expected from looking at it’s (flatly folded) outside.
